All is pretty well. Roy plans to ski this season even though his last outing resulted in a spinal fracture and a
messed up knee. Bone specialist says it’s OK and internist didn’t argue. In fact for the first time in history his
checkup didn’t result in any homework as lose weight, exercise, etc. etc. Roy finished a book (self-published)
“Prisoners of Christ”. He plans to use it in his jail ministry. It may be used by new or older Christians starting their
spiritual journey. He still plays in the Highland Ranch Concert Band (clarinet) and its associated jazz band (alto
sax) called Swing Shift which will play for the Chevron-Texaco Retirees Christmas Luncheon on December 7. We
will make the circuit to visit sons on three coasts, Boston, Houston and Arroyo Grande, CA and will spend
Christmas with the Houston clan this year. Wish all Braves a happy, healthy Christmas and God’s blessings for all
the days and years ahead. Maryann and Roy KOERNER.
It’s always good reading the newsletters. David, Class of ’52, and I have been in Houston for 43 years but Tulsa
is still home. We have a daughter and a son and two adult grandsons both college grads. We also have a
granddaughter and a grandson in middle school. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Roberta BUGHER Carpenter.
I really enjoy the newsletter but don’t have anything too exciting to report. We went on a cruise to Alaska this year
with a group of friends. It was our second trip there and we wondered if it would be as awesome as our first trip
and it was. We hope that it will remain that way forever and that people will enjoy it for years to come. We just
returned from Branson for the umpteenth time, enjoyed the fall weather and stayed at a wonderful place,
Thousand Hills Condos. Outside it looks like a log cabin but inside a lovely home with a deck in the trees. Our
friends decided it was the best. Our two children and their families are doing well so what more can you ask for.
We have four grown grandchildren who are so much fun to be around. Their lives are interesting and it is exciting
to hear and be a part of their adventures. Anne NEWMARK Johnson.
Greetings from California. All is well here except for a few body parts here and there. Headed for Big Bear soon
for some snow. Just got back from Las Vegas where our softball team won the 2011 World Championships. I’m
the pitcher. We play about 8 tournaments each year in various places and sometimes foreign countries. We play
4 or 5 times a week to keep in shape. Headed for New Zealand/Australia for a cruise in December. Hope to dive
the Great Barrier Reef if we have time. Hope all is well with everyone and hope to see you soon. Jim TATE.
Merry Christmas to all the ’53 Braves. Donna and I are in our 58th year of marriage, we have 3 children, 9
grandchildren and 2 plus grandkids. We live on a 62 acre farm 2 miles South of Claremore on Highway 88. I have
been retired from the District Court in Tulsa since 2000. Donna leads a bible study group which is in its 29th
year. I play duplicate bridge and suffer with the stock market. I believe the 1950’s and the ’53 Braves are the
greatest. I wish I could return to those times. Our family functions smoothly two-thirds of the time. The rest of the
time we are dysfunctional. Christmas is our favorite time of the year. We are aware of and thankful for our many
blessings and are glad to still be here. Christmas blessings, joy and peace to all.
Judge William (Bill) BEASLEY and Donna KNIGHT Beasley.
The big earthquake brought back memories of the one we had at CHS. The weather this year in Oklahoma has
been one for the books. We had a hail storm and now have a new roof. Last May, Sue Gail DILLMAN Tackett
came to town and toured our old schools- Barnard and Wilson for the last time. Jack WELSH, Tommy WEBB,
Eleanor DAVY Carmack and yours truly loved sharing memories of childhood that day. They have closed these
schools to save money for Tulsa Public Schools and both are for sale. Our class picnic in April was held at
Chandler Park with good food and a great turnout. Good job Beverly and Phil! The Brave Ladies meet each month
for dinner at a different place on the first Thursday at 6 PM. Ladies please join us. Julia BRADY Ratcliff had us
in May, Marillyn BRADY Lay in June and on Dec. 8th we will have our potluck/gift exchange at Joan TAYLOR
Wyatt’s home. I see classmates at the monthly DAR meetings. Anyone searching for their family heritage?
Contact Sally JOHNSON Bright or me. Last year Bob and I took trips to Mazatlan, Mex. for a priest’s ordination,
San Antonio for an International AA Convention and Ponte Vedra, Fl. with our son’s family for a vacation on the
beach. This year we celebrated my birth mother’s 101st birthday in Salina, Ks. She is blessed with good health.
To stay in good health I am back at the Health Zone (water aerobics). Bob and I can see you more clearly since
our cataract surgeries. I volunteer for our parish at the Homeless Shelter (cooking), hospital visitations, Catholic
Charities and Serra Club International. Our four children and eight grandchildren are wonderful. We are grateful
for our good health, friends, family and faith. Please keep our Oklahoma 45th Thunderbird troops in your prayers.
Hope to see you at the next reunion. Peace, Jodi SHELDON Pielsticker – Mrs. Pooch.
Here is an observation I recently made while visiting my family in Seattle concerning the newest family member,
Allison. Why are our grandchildren so absolutely adorable no matter what disgusting habits they have? My 2 ½
year old sucks her left thumb while she is twirling her index finger up her nose! Quite a picture. We all hope she
outgrows it before high school! Looking forward to seeing lots of you at our 60th reunion in 2013.
Beverly MAINE Woodard.
Thank you for keeping us all connected. Time marches on. I have heard from Juanita LOUVIER Weaver who
had major surgery involving her vocal cords so she is only able to whisper now, but otherwise doing well. I heard
from Mary GARDNER Wilcox who traveled with Pat SCOTT Tench to Churchill, Manitoba to see the polar
bears. I had lunch with Ruth WHITNEY Forrester, who is still running her family business. It is good to keep up
with friends. I was happily busy with grandchildren and my husband and his family this year.
Carolyn COX Earley.
Howdy classmates! After leaving Tulsa in August of 1953 and traveling the world for 58 years in twenty five
different countries I have made my final move…I hope. It’s been a blast but after all those years I felt it was time to
return to Indian Territory where my roots were and be at home for my final years. So in July 2011 I purchased a
home in Grove and I love being an Okie again. It’s been a wonderful life, God has been good and what a trip.
Never dreamed that I would have a chance at those experiences when I was in Central High. Looking forward to
the next reunion and seeing everyone. God Bless and take care to each and every one. Charlie WEST.
Merry CHRISTMAS Braves. Still in Cincinnati. With the much needed help of Don BRADSHAW, I’ve started my
own small energy company in West Virginia. It is in the Marcellus shale and it’s producing oil and gas. Still
involved with the Cincinnati Cyclones but on a smaller scale. We have won the championship two of the last three
years and have a number of former players playing in the NHL. I keep in touch with Mike HEIL who lives in
Beaver City, Nebraska. He is in the BS (bull semen) business. (Ed. TMI) Again, I wish you a very Merry
Christmas and A Happy New Year. Jack ADMIRE.
From Your Editor
Wow!! And I thought that maybe you guys were too old and tired to write!! This is our longest newsletter ever
and we’ve heard from a bunch of you who have never written before. As long as you keep writing, we’ll keep
publishing. Many thanks to all who sent money – we’re still a little short of covering costs but not seriously.
Special thanks to Al EATON who maintains our class data base, our web page and furnishes mailing labels.
Special thanks to Mrs. Pooch who helped me immensely. Thanks in advance to the group who will prepare this
for mailing. Being your editor is truly a labor of love and I truly do love each and every one of you.
Peace and God Bless.
Pooch
P.S. to Elaine JENSEN Sprenkle:
No, they didn’t call me Pooch in high school
